German Cockroach

Latin Name: Blattella germanica

The German cockroach is a smaller species of cockroach that is a domestic pest. It is distinguished from other roaches due to its size, color, and markings. German cockroaches are a light copper color with two distinct lines running down the head of the insect. Due to the insects lack of adaptability to colder climates it will almost always be found living within a home, restaurant, food facility, etc. German cockroaches are mostly nocturnal, but will stray out into the light when populations reach a level that the roaches become crowded or disturbed. Typically the roach will be found in the kitchen near appliances and near a source of food. Feeding on sugars, starches, and proteins this roach will eat almost anything. When food sources reach famine levels German cockroaches will often resort to cannibalistic measures. When noticing a german cockroach infestation within your home, it’s important to contact a professional exterminator to permanently eliminate your pest control problem.
